Follow Along for an Extreme Makeup Transformation​

An extreme makeup transformation is all about pushing boundaries and having fun with your look, even if that means becoming nearly unrecognizable. 

In this tutorial, I’m embracing the trend not to look like someone else, but to explore creativity and sophistication through makeup. I love myself the way I am, but I also love to play and experiment. Let's get into it.

1. Skin prep is key

I start with my favorite moisturizer and apply a generous amount to my face and neck. Even though it’s thick, I love how it feels. I skip eye cream before makeup because it tends to make the concealer move. 

For my lips, I use a tinted balm that adds hydration and a bit of color.

If you’re going to be exposed to the sun, apply your SPF after your moisturizer but before your primer. 

2. Primer for a long-lasting base

Today, I’m using a tacky primer which helps foundation and concealer grip the skin better. I apply it mainly in areas with fine lines and pores, then spread it all over. The tackiness is what makes the makeup last longer.

3. Lightweight foundation for a glowy base

I mix a lightweight foundation with a base thinner to get sheer coverage. Starting from the center of my face and stippling it outwards keeps it from getting into the hairline.

I never apply foundation under my eyes to avoid caking. Do make sure to bring the foundation all the way down to your neck.

4. Correcting and concealing

For color correction, I use a concealer that’s just a bit darker than my skin. I apply it under my eyes, in patches around my mouth and to spot correct. I let it sit and get tacky before blending for more coverage.

5. Adding dimension with bronzer and blending out concealer

While the concealer sets, I use a bronzing stick around my forehead, cheekbones, nose, and jawline. I use my foundation brush to blend everything, and for my nose, I just use my fingers for precision.

And now that the concealer is tacky, I’m using a concealer brush to blend everything out.

6. Highlighting with a lighter concealer

Now that the correction is done, I use a lighter concealer to highlight the high planes of my face. Lighter shades reflect light and bring forward those features. 

I blend everything with a dry sponge to keep the coverage full.

I’m also applying concealer on my forehead and the center of my eyelids to even out the skin base. Then I blend it out with a dry sponge.

7. Flushed with blush

I apply a terracotta-toned cream blush to the highest part of my cheeks for a lifted effect. Higher placement gives a sculpted look, while blush on the apples of the cheeks gives a rounder effect.

8. Setting and baking

I set my face with translucent powder, then bake the high points with a heavier layer.

Baking helps lock everything in and gives the face more structure. I only recommend it if your skin isn’t too dry. Listen to the full explanation at 7:57 of the video.

9. Filling in the brows

I fill in my brows using a deep brown eyeshadow shade that gives hair-like strokes. 

10. Building the eyes

In the crease, I use a warm brown eyeshadow and deepen the outer corner with a darker shade. I blend the shadows upward and outward for a lifted effect.

Then with a smudge brush I smudge and smoke out this dark brown shadow at my lower lash line.

I also apply a cream shade, pressing it on from the inner corner to the center point of my eyelid.

Use it also to highlight your brow bone.

11. Adding drama with liner and lashes

Using a black pencil, I tightline my eyes and layer a black shadow on top. 

Then I stamp and smudge black eyeshadow along the upper and lower lash lines to create a soft smoky look. 

I curl my lashes and apply mascara to my top and bottom lashes.

 Then I finish with fluffy false lashes.

The powder from earlier has baked enough, so I dust off the excess.

12. Lips that stay put

Instead of a lip liner, I use a brow pencil to line my lips. It prevents feathering, especially for mature skin. 

I blend a rich brown lipstick into the corners and top it with a plumping gloss for an ombré finish.

This transformation came together beautifully. 

From fresh-faced to polished and glam, I love how it turned out.
