Tools and Materials:

  • 3 tablespoons of VapoRub
  • 1 cup of corn starch/bicarbonate soda
  • Blue and green soap colorant (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons of water
  • Mixing bowl
  • Wax paper
  • Ice tray
  • Spoon

Start by adding your cornstarch to a bowl.

Add the Vicks VapoRub.

Stir to combine the ingredients.. Patience is key here; it takes a moment for the VapoRub to soften.

Add two tablespoons of water. If you feel the need for more, go slow – a teaspoon at a time does the trick.

Once your mixture achieves a smooth consistency, it's time to add a drop of green and a drop of blue soap coloring. Optional, but highly recommended for a touch of visual appeal. Stir away!

Now that the color is mixed, scoop the mixture into your hands. It'll feel like dough.

Mold it into a ball and place it on wax paper.

Stick your homemade shower bombs in the freezer to harden up.

Store these little wonders in an airtight container in the freezer until you're ready for a spa-like shower experience.

How do you keep from the mixture spreading on the shower floor and causing a fall?

I tried this and have made it several times since. My son love's it and so do I. I use it in the shower or bath. It does not make the bath floor slippery. When I complete my shower, I take the spa bomb and start rubbing it on my arms, legs, back and chest. Once it has melted, I rub it into my skin and shower off. It leaves your skins so soft and any muscle pain, aches, sinus congestion or stress is gone! I swear by this!
