1. DIY tooth whitener

For the first technique, Devyn demonstrates how to create a teeth whitening paste.

She combines half a teaspoon of baking soda with a few drops of water, using her toothbrush to mix them together.

Adding a dab of toothpaste to the mixture, Devyn acknowledges the less-than-pleasant taste but assures viewers that the effective teeth whitening results make it worthwhile.

Devyn advises using gentle circular motions while brushing and recommends using the paste a few times per week for noticeable improvements.

2. Blemish treatment

Devyn combines half a teaspoon of baking soda with freshly squeezed lemon juice. Using a Q-tip, she applies the mixture directly to blemishes, highlighting its quick-drying and non-chemical properties.

Devyn suggests leaving the treatment on for three minutes before gently cleaning it off with a cotton round soaked in toner.

3. Pore-minimizing toner

Devyn then shares her recipe for a pore-minimizing toner, which calls for half a tablespoon of baking soda mixed with a cup of water.

After ensuring the mixture is fully dissolved, she applies the toner to her face using a cotton round. Devyn reminds viewers to be cautious due to the slightly abrasive nature of baking soda!

4. Dark circle treatment

Next up is a dark circle treatment. Devyn combines one teaspoon of baking soda with one cup of hot water. Cutting a cotton round into moon shapes, she soaks them in the mixture and places them under her eyes.

After leaving them on for 15 minutes, she removes the cotton rounds, noting the soothing and brightening effect they have on dark circles.

5. Blackhead treatment

Devyn proceeds to demonstrate a simple blackhead treatment. She mixes a teaspoon of baking soda with a teaspoon of water to create a paste and applies it to her nose using her finger.

After three minutes, once the paste is dry, she rinses it away, ensuring thorough cleansing of the pores.

Excitedly sharing a glowing skin mask recipe, Devyn combines one tablespoon of baking soda with two tablespoons of freshly squeezed orange juice.

She applies the mixture to her face and waits for 15 minutes, ensuring the mask dries before rinsing it off.

7. Facial scrub

Devyn moves on to a facial scrub suitable for oily skin. She mixes a tablespoon of baking soda with a teaspoon of water, creating a thicker consistency.

Gently scrubbing her face for a minute or two, she advises viewers to be mindful of the baking soda's abrasive nature.

After rinsing off the scrub, Devyn emphasizes the purified and refreshed feeling it provides, suggesting the use of moisturizer afterward.

8. Dark neck skin treatment

Devyn demonstrates a dark neck skin treatment. She combines a teaspoon of baking soda with a teaspoon of water, creating a paste-like consistency.

Using a Q-tip, she applies the paste to dark lines on the neck, leaving it on for 15 minutes before cleaning it off.

9. Dark underarm treatment

Devyn proceeds with a dark underarm treatment, using a tablespoon of baking soda and freshly squeezed lemon juice.

After a 10-15 minute wait, Devyn rinses off the mixture, noting the benefits of this treatment for lightening the underarm area.

10. Dark elbow treatment

Devyn introduces a dark elbow treatment. Mixing three teaspoons of baking soda with a few drops of water, she creates a thick paste.

Massaging the paste into her elbows and knees, she explains that these areas tend to darken due to roughness.

After a ten-minute wait, Devyn rinses off the paste, revealing a potential lightening effect.

For years, I have been mixing baking soda with my gentle facial cleanser and using it as an exfoliating cleanser. It skips a step in the morning while showering and leaves my skin soft and bright. I follow with my skincare routine and makeup in the morning. It truly works. I’m 53 years old for reference. I also mix it with my shampoo to get rid of the product buildup. I follow with conditioner.

Baking soda with water is way too harsh and can actually remove too much of your skin’s natural oils thus resulting in an effect opposite of what you want to achieve. I am 64. (Photo here is of me at 62). I have always mixed a teas of baking soda with a few drops of baby wash or baby shampoo for the ideal scrub. Think about it. If the wash/shampoo is gentle enough for baby would it not be a gentle option for adult skin as well? Do not scrub more than once a week. One weekend day is sufficient to remove dead skin cells. Be sure to moisturize afterwards.
