You'll Fall In Love With This Instant Smokey Eye

This eye makeup look uses different shades of brown and ivory to create a gradual transition from dark at the outer corner to light at the inner lid.

Concealer marks make it easier to divide the lid into sections before applying the eyeshadow.

Tools and materials:

  • Concealer
  • Dark brown eyeshadow
  • Lighter brown eyeshadow
  • Ivory eyeshadow
  • Eyeshadow blending brush
  • Mascara
  • False lashes
  • Lip liner
  • Lip oil or gloss

1. Mark the sections

Use a small amount of concealer to make two guide lines on your eyelid.

Place one at the outer corner and another around the center of the lid.

These lines will divide the eye into sections and guide where you place each eyeshadow shade.

2. Apply the eyeshadows

Starting at the outer corner, apply dark brown eyeshadow to the first section.

Add a lighter brown to the section beside it, then apply ivory eyeshadow over the inner half of the lid.

Keep the colors roughly within their sections for now. You'll blend them together in the next step.

3. Define the lower lash line

Apply the same dark brown eyeshadow along your lower lash line. Concentrate the color close to the lashes to add definition around the eye.

4. Blend the eyeshadow

Blend the two brown shades to soften the transitions between them. Then blend the ivory into the lighter brown so there are no harsh divisions between the colors.

5. Finish the eyes

Apply mascara to your lashes.

For the look shown here, add a pair of false lashes once the mascara is in place.

Repeat the same steps on the other eye.

6. Add the lip color

Finish the makeup with lip liner followed by lip oil or plumping gloss.

The result is a graduated eye look that moves from deep brown at the outer corner through a softer brown to ivory at the inner lid.

Finish with your chosen lip color to complete the makeup.
