How to Make a Bay Leaf Spray and a Neem Scalp Mask for Healthy Hair
In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to reduce scalp inflammation naturally with two different recipes.
First, you’ll learn how to make a bay leaf spray to help with your itchy scalp. Bay leaf works extremely well to tackle dandruff and an itchy scalp.
Then, we’ll make a DIY dry scalp mask for dandruff with neem powder. This helps to promote a healthy scalp and clear dandruff. Let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- Bay leaves
- Spray bottle
- Neem powder
- Aloe vera
Spray for itchy scalp
Using bay leaves for hair health helps not only in eliminating dandruff, but also in promoting a healthy scalp.
1. Add bay leaves to the pot
Crush 3-4 whole bay leaves in a pot.
2. Add water
Add 1 cup of water.
3. Simmer
Simmer the bay leaves on low for 10-15 minutes.
4. Bottle
Pour the bay leaf-infused water into a spray bottle for easy application. The spray can be stored for up to a week in the refrigerator.
5. Spray on your scalp to apply
Spray the water on your scalp after you wash your hair and leave it in without washing it out.
Scalp mask for dandruff DIY
The potent antifungal properties of neem powder are beneficial in clearing off dandruff and itchy scalp.
1. Add neem powder
Add 1 tsp of neem powder to a bowl. Neem powder is antibacterial and antifungal.
2. Add aloe vera
Add 2 tbsp of aloe vera gel to the bowl. Aloe vera promotes a healthy scalp.
3. Mix
Mix the two until it forms a paste. This mask should be made fresh each time you use it.
4. Apply to your scalp
Apply the mask to your scalp, leave it on for fifteen minutes, and then rinse it off with plain water.

I think the "Neem Oil" needs an explanation. I don't think the Neem Oil for this concoction is the same as the Neem Oil I use on plants in my garden. That type of Neem Oil is used for things like killing bugs on my roses and other plants. I would think that might be toxic if used on the scalp.
I had never heard of Neem oil POWDER prior to this post. "Little DIY" could you enlighten us on this? You're not using the garden type of Neem Oil, are you? Is the type you're using a whole different thing than the garden type of Neem Oil? I don't want to try this until I'm sure what kind of Neem Oil you're using here. Thanks!
