Applying sheet mask to skin

1. Exfoliator and mask

If you have dry skin, start off by exfoliating.

Then, apply a face mask, as this will be great at hydrating your skin while also reducing the look of fine lines.

Applying sculpting cream

2. Sculpting cream

Next, apply some sculpting cream.

Under-eye prep

3. Under-eye prep

Then, go in with some under-eye gel masks. This will help to boost the hydration of the skin in that area.

Priming eyes

4. Eye primer

Apply some eye primer to the lids and then set it with translucent powder.

Applying eyeshadow

5. Eyeshadow

Blue and orange are complementary colors on the color wheel, so women with blue eyes (like my model) often look gorgeous in orange-based, bronzy tones.

Start by contouring the crease in the color nude with a fluffy crease brush.

Applying eyeshadow

For the lid, I went with a color called sparkling sand.

You shouldn’t be afraid to use shimmery shadows on your lids if you are older - you don’t have to stick to only matte shades.

If you put a lot of shimmer directly on wrinkles, it's obviously going to accentuate them. But that doesn't mean you can't use them at all.

Applying eyeliner

6. Eyeliner

For the eyeliner, use a dark brown pencil on the bottom of the lid and smudge it with a matching eyeshadow.

Cleaning up under-eyes

7. Clean up under-eyes

Clean up any fallout with a Q-tip and some moisturizer.

Applying primer to skin

8. Primer

If you have dry skin, be sure to go in with a hydrating primer.

I’m using one that has a beautiful luminescence to it, which is great for giving you a youthful radiance.

Applying foundation

9. Foundation

Go in with some foundation that will give you coverage, long wear, and luminosity.

You can always mix two foundations together to create the formulation that you want, like I did, to achieve this.

Applying setting spray to brush

10. Under-eyes

To reduce fine lines under the eyes, start by spraying your makeup brush with setting spray, then tap it under the eyes to create some tackiness.

Coloring correcting under-eyes

Then, take a color-corrector highlighter to spot-correct any discolored areas and stipple it into the skin.

Leave the eyes for a few minutes to allow the products to dry.

You need each layer to be dry before doing the next one so that each layer doesn’t get too sticky.

Filling in brows

11. Brow powder

While waiting for the under eyes to dry, fill in any sparse areas of the brows with a brow pencil.

If you have gray hair, I recommend using an ash-brown color.

Contouring

12. Contour

If you’re feeling self-conscious about your jowls, you want to contour out your jawline.

This will help make your face look more snatched and chiseled.

Also, add contour to your cheekbones and to your nose, and then blend everything out.

Smoothing under-eye creases

13. Under-eye

Smooth out any creases under the eyes, then spray your brush again and use it to go over the under eyes again.

Don’t add any more color corrector or concealer unless you have to as this can increase the likelihood of it creasing.

Adding blush

14. Blush

If you have dry skin you need to first go in with a cream blush and then set it with a powdered blush.

Adding bronzer

15. Bronzer

Then set the contour with a bronzer.

Under-eye makeup

16. Under-eye makeup

Use the same eyeshadow that you applied to the creases under the eyes and smoke it out.

Adding false lashes

17. Mascara

Now apply some mascara and some false lashes.

Lining lips

18. Lips

Finish off by lining the lips and applying lipstick. I used a plumping lipstick in the color pink nude, which is an opaque, cool-toned nude.

Before and after: youthful makeup look

Youthful makeup look

This is the final look. We were so happy with it. It is representative of Monica's personality.

It's a total beach girl, natural glam, super sexy, super her. I'm in love with it.

Love it.. I'd like to see a tutorial for someone in their mid 70s with a long forehead

  • Kathy Kathy on Mar 23, 2024

Hi, my name is Kathy I live in California I'm an older gal 72 and have under eye wrinkles, my eyebrows are thinning, I use a good cream on my neck but it is starting to sag. I have brown eyes but enjoy different color eye shadows such as light blue and green depending on what I'm wearing. I have sparse eyelashes from wearing false lashes since High school. I've tried to let my lashes breath & not wear my false lashes but love the way they make my eyes look. When applying my make up I use a good moisture cream then use a sponge to apply my foundation and saw you use brushes to apply foundation. So far my make up looks ok my problem is how to fill in my eyebrows without them looking drawn on. I would like to look more natural but my girlfriends think I wear too my makeup and think the eyelashes are too much at our age. I like the way I look & get a lot of compliments on the way I look. I do have one wrinkle across my forehead that I can't seem to hide. It does take time for me to get ready and my husband is not patient with me. I still dye my hair an auburn color as I'm not ready to go gray. I would be grateful to hear back from you. I can send you a photo of me with my make up off & on. I do have age spots on the right side of my face and conceal them. Oh BTW my husband is 10 years younger than me but he isn't aging well he has gray hair and lots of wrinkles from working in the sun. He retired 2 years ago and I love having him home. Thank you so much!
