Everything You Need to Know to Make Fake Bangs Look Super Cute
Did you know that you don't need to cut your hair to have bangs? Today, I'm going to show you how to use clip-in bangs so you can have fake curtain bangs without cutting your hair.
This is also a great idea if you want to double-check how you would look with bags before actually committing and cutting them.
I am going to show you how to use clip-in bangs as well as how to dye them to blend perfectly with your hair.

1. What are fake bangs made from?
The bangs I am using are made from real hair. I was a little bit skeptical about fake bangs at first. I thought they were going to be very shiny and doll-like and look super fake.
But, because they are real hair, they blend very nicely with the texture of your actual hair. You can also heat style them and dye them which makes them look so natural and blend even more.
2. How do you attach fake bangs?
They come with a clip inside that you can attach to your own hair which makes them super easy to use.
3. What color should I buy?
Go for a color that is as close to your natural hair color as possible. I got bangs in a similar color to my roots which is my natural hair color.
But, when I put them on, it was too dark. That's because I have highlights in my hair, so there was no way I could wear the fake bangs without giving them a glow-up with some highlights.
4. How do I apply them?
To apply the bangs, part your hair in the middle and you want to clip them in the middle of your head.
An easy way to find a good placement is to put a flat comb (or flat object) on the top of your head. Where it separates, that's where your bangs will go.
It might take a few tries to get right so don't get overwhelmed, just keep trying. If they look fake, it’s likely because you haven't placed them right.
Then hold the bangs at the top and brush them out and style them with your hair to make it blend in more nicely.
If your hair doesn't match perfectly with your clip-in bags, or you’re not happy with the positioning, there are a few ways you can cleverly conceal them with your hairstyles. One is by wearing a headband.
5. How do I dye the bangs?
Before I did anything with my bangs, I first tried to bleach a little strand of hair from the clip-in bangs that wasn't going to show too much in case it didn't work out.
I really suggest that you do the same before you try to dye your bangs. This will give you an idea of how much time you can leave your bleach on or if you can bleach them at all.
After I did the test and everything was fine, I then started to section my bangs in layers and just randomly add some highlights.
Because the hair was so dark it took a very long time to bleach and, in some areas, I had to go over it a few times.
However, I prefer this method rather than leaving the bleach on for too long and maybe over-processing the hair.
I also like doing it this way because it will give me different shades and that's going to make it look more natural.
Once the hair was light enough, I went ahead and shampooed and conditioned it. Don't rub it and scrub it too much, you don't want it to tangle.
Then, I applied a toner to take away that yellow brassiness that was left from the bleach. To blow-dry them, I used a hair dryer and made sure the roots were very dry and also that the lace that comes at the base is completely dry.
6. How do I style fake bangs?
I find my hot brush very useful to style my clip-in bangs. With one hand I can hold the base of the bangs and that way I'm not going to pull them off. You can also use a regular round brush.
7. How do I store the bangs?
I recommend that you keep the paper that it comes with because I found it really helpful to store it and to help it keep its shape while it's in storage and you're not using it.
