This Hairstyle Looks FABULOUS With Your Gray Hair
If you’re looking for a new hairstyle to upgrade your everyday look, try out this rope braid bun with me.
Plus, this hairstyle looks fabulous with gray hair! Just follow along with this step-by-step tutorial.
Tools and materials:
- Comb with a pointed end
- Hair tie
- Clear hair elastics
- Bobby pins
1. Section your hair
Divide your hair into 2 large sections with a comb. Tie off the back so it doesn’t get twisted in.
2. Twist
Take a bit of hair from the top layer on 1 side and divide it into 2 pieces. Twist the top piece over the back piece.
With your thumb, add some hair into the bottom piece and twist the pieces again.
Continuously add hair in with your thumb to the front piece.
Keep twisting like this until you reach the point behind your ear. Then just twist the 2 pieces tightly without adding more hair.
Tie off the twisted braid at the end with a clear hair elastic.
3. Repeat
Make a twisted braid on the other side in the same way.
This is my day 4 or 5 hair, but that actually makes it easier to work with. Tie off the end of this 2nd twisted braid.
4. Add volume
Pull at the pieces that you want fluffed on both braids to add texture.
5. Make a simple bun with all the hair
Take down the hair in the back. Then, grab all the ends, including the twisted braids. Twist all of those ends together and wrap them into a bun.
Secure the bun with an elastic and a few bobby pins.
Fluff it out where needed. Here’s the final look:
