Is This Popular 80s Hair Accessory Making a Comeback?

Do you remember the banana clip from the 80's?

Before the popular claw clip and the butterfly clips from the 90s' there was the beloved banana clip. A banana clip is a concave U-shaped accessory with two plastic sides that come together in the middle with stretchy teeth that hold the hair in place. To use a banana clip for a ponytail, you merely unhinge one end of the clip, the whole thing takes about thirty seconds.

Well the banana clip is making it's comeback so I thought it would be great to do a tutorial.

Open the clip at the end

Put it under all your hair (or some people flip their head)

Snap the clip back closed

What do you think? Is the banana clip making a come back? Do you want it to? Let me know your thoughts!

I LOVE THE BANANA CLIPS I JUST WISH THEY WOULD MAKE THEM LONGER. SOMETHING THAT WILL HOLD ALOT OF HAIR BECAUSE MY HAIR IS LONG AND THICK.

I have long, thick curly hair. My hair always looked more planned/controlled with the banana clip than with any kind of run-of-the-mill pony-tail that I've used since then when I need my hair "up." Where can I find some new (heavy)banana clips (like the one in this post)? There are a few similar things out there, but I try them on my hair, and they are too flimsy. They break right away under the weight of my hair.
