How Best to Measure, Groom & Shape Eyebrows for Older Women
I’m here to talk to you about eyebrows for older women. Eyebrows basically frame your face and your eyes, so it's quite critical to put some effort into them.
If you’re wondering what to do when it comes to shaping mature eyebrows, keep reading to get useful tips and hacks on the best eyebrow makeup for older ladies.
Tools and materials:
- Tweezer
- Spoolie
- Eyebrow pencil
I'm using makeup from Look Fabulous Forever, which is specially designed for older skin, but you can replicate the same techniques with your own preferred products.
1. Pluck stray eyebrow hairs
If you have any sparse hairs, go ahead and pluck those out. It’s best to have a clean canvas to work on, especially by your brow bone.
The brow bone area is actually a significant part to add some highlighter to draw attention to the highest part of your face.
2. Groom
Before we get into the shaping, start by grooming them so they look tidy. Use a spoolie for this. If you notice any long eyebrow hairs that grow in the wrong direction, then go ahead and tweeze them away.
3. Fill in brows
Using a thin brow pencil, add some color and shape using gentle stroking motions. You want to mimic hairs, so be sure not to press too hard. This will give your eyebrows a better definition.
Tip: When it comes to finding the best eyebrow pencil for mature skin, keep in mind that the fineness of the pencil is important, and so is the color.
Then, move along the eyebrow, following the natural way it grows. Keep using stroke-like motions in a very fine manner.
Feel free to fill in the ends and make them a little longer. Just keep in mind not to go overboard; you want to create the illusion that you’ve got more brow hair than you actually have.
Once you’re happy, use the spoolie brush again to brush everything through.
Can you see the difference between the two? The right side looks groomed and more defined, while the left looks slightly sorry for itself.
How to measure brows
Let’s quickly talk about measuring eyebrows to get the right length and shape. The start of your eyebrows should be level with the base of your nose.
Using the base of your nose as a guide again, angle the brush, so it touches the corner of your eye; this is the point where your eyebrow should end.
If you want to measure the arc in the middle of the brow, take your brush upward so it goes right across the center of your eyeball.
So, those are three points to consider if you want to get the perfect symmetry.

Well...my dermatologist recommended older women should pretty much forget tweeting brows. Our brows, like other body hair, thins out with age. Tweezing can make this a permanent condition with the brows.
I enjoyed very thick brows and lashes in youth. They DID thin naturally with aging.
Just be cautious with those tweezers.....
My brows thinned over time. Tweezing would have made it worse over years....
But then....everyone is different. Use good judgement.
