Apple Pie Spice Oatmeal Soaps
Turn hotel sample soaps or any other bar of soap into cute doughnut soaps. Rebatching soap is a great way to make a custom bar of soap without buying a lot of expensive ingredients or handling lye. You can safely add a scent, color, and even other additives like oatmeal.
You'll need:
1 cup soap flakes
1/2 cup distilled water
1 teaspoon grapeseed oil
1/2 tablespoon ground oatmeal
20 drops Apple Pie essential oil blend
My neighbor travels for work and stays in hotels for weeks at a time. He tells them that he doesn't need soap, but after several weeks of getting them a few times a week, it adds up. They can't take them back, so he takes them home to use them and gives me some.
I use a knife to cut them into small chunks. You can also use a cheese grater to make flakes.
Add the soap flakes and distilled water to a double boiler or make one with a measuring cup on top of canning jar ring. Heat until it starts to melt.
When it looks like mashed potatoes, it's done.
Carefully remove from heat and add the essential oils, oatmeal, and mica or soap colorant if you want. Stir well.
Then use a spoon to pack them into your mold. I used a doughnut mold. Make sure to pack it well so there aren't any air bubbles.
Let it dry for a few days. The water will evaporate and leave a cute bar of soap. The soap makes chunks, which look like apple bits in the soap.
