This Dark & Sultry Festive Makeup Look is Perfect for a Holiday Party

Tools and materials:

• Multi-colored eyeshadow palette
• Assorted makeup brushes
• Glitter gel eyeshadow
• Eyeliner
• Mascara
• False eyelashes
• Lipstick

For this tutorial, I'm using this Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette. Of course, you can use your own palette, but try to match similar shades to get the same look.

1. Eyeshadow

Starting with a deep-toned color, sweep the eyeshadow across your eyelid above the crease. Work it in using a fluffy eyeshadow brush in circular motions to distribute the shadow evenly. You may want two or three applications of this shade to get the intensity of color you want.

Use an angled eyeshadow brush to apply a blonde shade of shadow just under your eyebrow.

Next is a deep burgundy shade. Apply this shade just above the crease line of your eye.

Use a blending brush to buff it in. Like with the initial shade you used, you can apply more than one layer of this to get a more intense crease.

Now switch to a chocolate color and apply that to the crease line of your eye with a small eyeshadow brush.

With an ivory/cream shadow, use a small brush to apply it to the entire mobile eyelid (below the crease) and inner corners.

Apply the chocolate shadow to the outer edge of your eyelid. Use a blending brush to blend in some of the ivory/cream shade from before.

2. Add glitter

Apply some glitter gel eyeshadow to your whole mobile eyelid. Keep your eyes looking down while the glitter dries so it doesn’t transfer to your upper eyelid.

3. Lining the eyes

Use the same brown shade that you used for your outer corners and apply it under your lower eyelashes, connecting the line to the eyeshadow on the outer corner of your eye.

Apply a dark eyeliner on the waterline of your lower lid.

Create a thin winged eye line in your upper lid using a black liner. Keep the line very thin on the inner corner and widen it as you approach the outer corner.

Use your eyeliner to create a small point at the inner corners. 

4. Eyelashes

Apply one coat of black mascara to your upper lashes, and two coats to your lower lashes.

Now apply false eyelashes to your upper lashes following the package directions.

5. Finishing touches

Go back to that inner point you created, and add some glitter shadow, using a very small brush.

6. Blush

Use your favorite powder blush and apply it to the hollows of your cheek and just above your cheekbone, using a large fluffy brush.

Next, apply a rosier cream blush to the apples of your cheeks, pulling it slightly up and back.

7. Lip color

Use your favorite lip color on your lips, but note that a nice deep shade will tie in very well with your eye makeup.
