The makeup I’m using is from the Look Fabulous Forever range, made specifically for mature skin. However, you can achieve the same results with any brand of makeup.

Tools and materials:

  • Eyeshadow brush
  • Blending brush
  • Cream, rose gold and taupe eyeshadow
  • Taupe eyeliner pencil
  • Black mascara
Applying cream eyeshadow

1. Apply cream eyeshadow

After applying eye primer for a smooth start, paint the cream eyeshadow color over each eyelid.

You can be very generous with this, taking it into the inner corners toward the brow bone where you might have some blueness.

2. Apply rose gold eyeshadow

Next, for our first layer of color, take the rose gold eyeshadow on your brush and apply it just to the outer corners of your eyes, roughly the outer third.

3. Shape your eyelids with taupe

Next, take the taupe eyeshadow onto your brush and apply it into the eye socket.

Taupe is not a particularly strong color, so it’s easy to apply and still gives immediate shape and definition to your eyes.

Make sure you apply this above the eyelids and below the brow line.

Shaping eyelids

Use a clean brush to blend the 3 eyeshadow shades seamlessly. Remember, we aren’t going for stripes but shadows of subtle hues.

4. Apply eyeliner

Apply a taupe shade of eyeliner to the base of your upper eyelashes.

Depending on the texture of your skin, you might find it helpful to gently stretch the eyelid out slightly while applying the eyeliner pencil.

Applying eyeliner

Use the eyeliner at the outer thirds of your lower lash line as well.

5. Apply mascara

Finally, apply mascara to your lashes.

This over 50 eye makeup look is easy because you don’t need to be ultra-precise thanks to the neutral color palette.

Now my eyes look made-up but not overdone.
