It’s a summer evening and you’re planning to go out with friends. Or maybe it’s a romantic date. You want to wear something cool, soft and flowing - but there’s nothing like that in your closet.

Here’s a quick and easy fashion hack that only needs a bedsheet and a pack of large safety pins.

Tools and materials:

Turning a bedsheet into a dress

1. Wrap up

Take the long side of the sheet behind your back and bring the ends forward under your arms.

Make sure the two sides are of equal length.

2. Pinch and drape

Hold the top edge of the sheet together in the center of your chest. It needs to fit closely but comfortably.

Allow the spare fabric to fall in a drape in front of you.

3. Grab the pins

You need quite large safety pins for this. I used the 1 inch (2.5 cm) size. They won’t be seen when we’re finished.

4. Pin the top

Insert the first pin at the very top of the sheet under the drape, to join the two sides together.

For extra security, you can pin through the top of your bra as well.

5. Close the front

Continue pinning the center front of the dress together.

Keep your pins under the folds of fabric so they won’t show in wear.

You can pin all the way down the center or leave a front opening. It’s entirely up to you what you’re comfortable with.

When you’ve finished, arrange the front drapes so they look natural.

Sorry, no. It still looks like a bedsheet and besides, you have to have some sort of cover-up for your shoulders.
