How to Wear This Spring's Fashion Trends
I don’t know about you, but I get so excited when the first signs of spring start to show – the leaves coming in on the trees, sprouts of bright green grass, and birds hopping around scouting nest locations. I get to pull out my colorful spring wardrobe and pack away the dark colors of winter wear. I also check the trends for the season, and this year, the trends couldn’t be more festive - classic pastels and romance, nautical and preppy ( see my previous article), and dramatic oversized silhouettes.
Here are three ways to get on board with spring fashion trends.
Bubblegum Pink & Peplum
This spring, it’s time to think pink! While pastels make a pretty regular comeback every spring, the runways for this year’s spring looks were filled with lots of bubblegum pink. It’s one color that always represents girly fun and fresh flowers and can be paired either with neutrals for a pop, as a contrast to bolder hues or layered pink on pink for your dream Barbie moment. Look for a cheerful pink dress or pink separates you can mix and match. Bonus points if you find a pink top with a little peplum ruffle – another trend spotted on the runways for spring. Shop pink peplum top.
Romance
Frilly, ruffled romantic looks also dominated the predictions for spring this year. Think about romance novels coming to life, and you’ll want to wear your most floral, flowy outfit for whatever venture awaits. Try layering a light, ruffled floral top over a floral maxi cottege-core dress to go a little extra. Shop romantic floral dress.
Oversized shapes
While fashion shows are always filled with aspirational looks, some you have to question – would I wear that in real life? Designers like Balenciaga and Rick Owens embraced exaggerated silhouettes, from voluminous coats to oversized blazers and ballooning sleeves. While some runway looks are more for art than practical fashion, you can try a version of oversized shapes like this puff-sleeve sweater. And you may as well get used to it, the fall fashion shows just wrapped up and you can see this trend continuing for the rest of the year. Shop puffed-sleeve tops.
Now that you know how to wear some of this spring’s fashion trends, will you try them?
