Getting straight lines with your eyeliner can be a difficult and frustrating process. Trying to get your lines clean and matching with the other side can be a struggle. Especially with hooded eyes that fold on the edges.

This simple trick has saved so much time and frustration with eyeliner. And all you need is some tape!

* I want to preface this by saying that I am no makeup artist and my eyeliner skills are not amazing. I simply hope that this trick can help you make eyeliner easier!

STEP 1

Start with a fresh, clean face after all skincare products have had time to set in.

Grab some transparent tape and your preferred eyeliner or shadow. When selecting tape, you want a light, not-too-sticky tape. Avoid any tape that says heavy duty or strong. Cheaper tape typically works better because it's not overly sticky.

Cut off a piece of tape about 1.5 - 2 inches long and place it from the outer corner of your eye to the end of your eyebrow. If you prefer a straighter, less angled line, adjust the tape accordingly.

STEP 2

Draw your eyeliner or shadow along the edge of the tape. I typically draw from the top of my lashes downwards, then up toward my brow. Make the liner as thick or as skinny as you'd like. For thicker liner, draw a straight line from the top of your lashes to the end of the liner.

STEP 3

Once your liner is done, gently pull the tape off, starting from underneath your eye, going upwards. This helps to keep the clean lines of the liner without smearing or smudging.

STEP 4

Connect the eyeliner underneath your eye. I draw a small line from just inside the bottom corner of my eye upwards toward the wing. This helps create a smooth, connected look.

FINAL LOOK

That's it! Your liner or shadow is done and should be clean and sharp! If you have any smudges, use a cotton swab with a little micellar water or eye makeup remover and carefully wipe away any imperfections. Finish with your favorite mascara and you're done!
