Making Unique Earrings From Old Crockery

I love a rummage through old broken boxes of china In Junk shops as to me they are little treasures awaiting transformation into unique jewellery.
I like to make dangle earrings and the china and pottery pieces I choose are truly unique and attractive gems. I try and get some pieces that compliment each other and match although not same shape exactly.
Remember to be wearing safety eye goggles.
I use wheeled tile nippers to cut and shape.
I cut pieces that I think will make nice jewellery in range of patterns and colours.
Next step is to use the mini hand tool to smooth the edges . It has a rotary carbide stone wheel to whizz around and take off the rough sharp pieces. It takes time and is satisfying process.
Next time to make some
drilled holes for earring fixings. I change the end to a diamond tipped drill piece and use water to cool the tip after each count of 5 to preserve the tip from burning.
I thread the silver jump rings through the holes ready for ear hooks.
Fixing the sterling silver ear wires. These pottery ceramic vintage earrings are so unique and such a great way to preserve pieces of history 💙
