Tools and materials:
- Hair elastics
- Bobby pins
- Clip
- Heat protectant mist
1. Twisted bun
Pull your hair back like you’re making a ponytail.
Instead of pulling it all the way through the third time, pull it partway through to start a little bun.
Split your ends into two sections and twist them towards the face.
Bring them up over the bun and cross them over. Keep tying them around the bun. Tuck and pin up the ends with some bobby pins.
Fluff up the bun by pinching and pulling out from the middle. Also, pinch and pull around the crown of the head to create some volume and texture all around.
Use a dry heat protectant mist on your bangs or the loose tendrils around your face. Then curl with a curling iron.
Brush your fingers through to separate some curls.
2. Double pony-based bun
Make a half pony. Then make a ponytail underneath it with the rest of the hair.
Tighten the top section and make a braid. Tie it at the bottom.
Pinch and pull the side of the braid that’s closer to your face.
Wrap the braid around itself at the base with the pinched, fluffed side facing out. Don’t make it too tight.
Tuck the ends under and pin them with bobby pins. Then put bobby pins on the sides and inside of the braid bun to hold it in place.
Tighten that second ponytail and split it in two. Twist these around each other. Hold the ends and pinch and pull the sides.
Wrap the twist around the bun. Don’t wrap it too tightly. Then, pin the end in place, and insert bobby pins around the twist to keep it in place.
Pinch and pull at the bun carefully to add more volume.
3. Criss-cross twisted bun
Section out the front of the hair. Pull the rest of the hair back into a ponytail and make a little bun.
Push the bun up against the head and stick some bobby pins into it. Take the ends and twist them. Then wrap it up in a loop under the bun. Twist it around itself and tuck the ends. Insert bobby pins to secure it.
Take a section of hair from the front and pull it back, twist it around itself.
Pull it across the bun and pin it to the other side. Do the same thing with a section of hair from the opposite side of the face.
You can tuck and bobby pin the loose ends.
Pinch and pull at all the different parts of the hairdo to add volume.
4. Side twists to voluminous bun
Grab a small section of hair at the back of the head. Twist it, press it against the head, and push it up. Insert a bobby pin.
At the front, take a section of hair from the top and split it in two. Cross the front section over the back section and add a bit of hair.
Now bring that section back. Add a bit of hair to the new front section, then bring it back. Continue this pattern towards the back of the head.
Then twist the rest of the hair to the bottom and tie it.
Take the twist and bring it up and around at the back.
Bobby pin it in place.
Repeat this on the opposite side. Twist two pieces, adding hair as you go. Twist it around the first bun and pin it up.
As always, for the final touches, pinch and pull at all the twists and any part of the hairdo that needs some volume.
