1. A good foundation

Here’s my base outfit. Beautiful shades of brown, soft textures, great accessories.

But it’s missing a little oomph, that touch of style that makes a look stand out.

2. My favorite accessory

Scarves are always my go-to, but how to wear one with this roll neck sweater?

I found a long, thin scarf in toning shades of brown that looks great against my base outfit.

3. Start knotting

My first step is to fold the scarf in half to find the center.

I put my fingers through the center loop and pass the ends through.

This makes a neat but chunky knot. I don’t want anything that looks too delicate against this thick sweater.

Then I make two more knots each side of the center one, and space them an equal distance apart.

Finally, I knot the two ends of the scarf together.

When I loop the scarf over my head, it really brings the sweater to life. It’s just the touch of style that I wanted.

Now to finish my outfits with a jacket and bag in more shades of brown.

The scarf brings it all together and I feel classy and elegant.
