The Easiest DIY You Will Need for Summer Fashion

This DIY tube top is the easiest summer top you will ever make.
Try and use t-shirts made from stretch fabric. Otherwise you may want to insert some elastic in the upper hem to stop your new top from slipping down.

Tools and materials:
- Oversized t-shirt or stretchy top
- Tube top as template
- Narrow elastic (optional)
- Safety pin or Kirby grip (optional)
- Fabric marker
- Scissors or rotary cutter
- Pins
- Sewing machine
1. Cut out the shape
Lay your top out flat and line up the side seams and lower edge.
Try to make sure the grain is straight and not twisted.
Pin a tube top that fits you well on top, and trace around it with a fabric marker.
Cut around the shape, leaving about half an inch (1 cm) seam allowance on all edges.
2. Side seams
Pin and sew both side seams, with the right sides facing.
Use a narrow zigzag stitch to sew stretch fabric.
3. Top and bottom edges
Make a double hem at the top and bottom and sew in place.
If you need to add elastic, make a deeper casing at the top, leaving a small section open.
Thread the elastic through the casing using a safety pin or Kirby grip and sew the ends together.
Sew the opening closed.
DIY tube top
Wear your DIY tube top full length, or fold the top over to make a crop top.
If you don’t want to elasticate the top, you could make thin straps from the excess fabric and sew them to the top edge.
However you wear it, it’s a quick and easy way to upcycle all your old stretch tops.
