Harris Borax Powder Laundry Booster
1. How to make your DIY laundry powder
Grate the soap using a cheese grater or a food processor. The finer the soap, the easier it will dissolve in water.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated soap, washing soda, borax, and baking soda (if you’re using it). Mix everything together.
If you’d like a natural fragrance, add 10–20 drops of your preferred essential oil and mix everything thoroughly.
Then, transfer your homemade laundry powder into an airtight container to keep it fresh and dry.
2. How to use your DIY laundry powder
For a standard load of laundry, add 2 tablespoons of the laundry powder directly into the drum or detergent compartment.
For extra softness, add ½ cup of white vinegar to the fabric softener compartment. Vinegar helps break down soap residue and leaves clothes feeling softer.
Wash clothes as usual, using warm or cold water depending on fabric type.
3. Tips for best results
Use distilled white vinegar as a natural fabric softener and odor neutralizer. For stubborn stains, make a paste with laundry powder and water, apply to stains, let sit for 30 minutes, then wash. Store in a dry place to prevent clumping.
