Some background information about the ingredients
Castor oil
Boosts blood circulation to the hair follicles, helping the hair grow faster. It also gives omega-6 fatty acids into your scalp to help grow stronger, healthier hair.
Coconut oil
Conditions and moisturizes the hair. Also, the coconut oil ensures that it will be easier to wash out the castor oil.
1. Measure your ingredients
Start by putting equal parts coconut oil and castor oil in a bowl.
This will depend on the length and thickness of your hair. My hair is relatively long, so I’m using about 2 tablespoons of each type of oil.
2. Melt and mix
Next, put the mixture in the microwave to melt it for about 30 seconds.
Remove and mix the oils together to blend. It should look like this:
3. Apply
Apply the oil mixture to dry hair.
You can either apply it with your hands or transfer the mixture into a plastic squeeze bottle from any beauty supply store.
If you use the bottle, dispense the oils gradually at the roots.
4. Massage
Once you’ve applied the mixture to your scalp, massage the oils with your fingers to stimulate the scalp and spread the oils.
5. Let the mask seep in
Pull your hair up in a bun or use a shower cap to simply cover all of the hair.
I recommend keeping the mask on overnight. If you do so, cover your pillow with a towel.
6. Clean off the mask
In the morning, or whenever you’re ready to remove the mask, apply shampoo to your scalp and hair before getting in the shower.
Then rinse your hair in the shower and shampoo again if necessary.
