How to Tie a Neck Scarf and Look Like You Have Your Life Together
There’s something so chic about a perfectly tied neck scarf. It can elevate your look and turn a casual outfit into a polished one.
I get lots of questions about this, so here’s how to tie a neck scarf and look stunning in less than a minute.

Tools and materials:
- Square or rectangular scarf
1. Make a rectangle
If you’re using a square scarf, start by folding it into a triangle.
Then fold the tip of the triangle three quarters of the way towards the fold, to make a kind of rectangle shape.
If your scarf is already a rectangle, you can skip this part.
2. Fold into a strip
Fold the scarf lengthways, keeping it smooth and flat.
Fold it as many times as you want to get the width you’re looking for.
It should look like this.
3. Wrap it
Find the center of the scarf and put it under your chin.
Wrap the ends of the scarf around your neck from front to back.
Cross the ends over behind your neck and bring them forwards.
4. Tie the knot
Cross the ends over at the front.
Take the top end and take it under the scarf and up through the middle of the wrap.
Tie the two ends into a single knot and adjust the scarf so that it’s comfortable.
